A great dog house is not just for Great Danes but a great dog house can even be a great, unique and elegant one for little kids like a Dachshund or a Pomeranian or a Shih Tzu or You. Kidding aside, as a pet owner who loves his mutt so much and care so much about him, you only want nothing but the best. A lot of dog owners would consider using cedar wood as materials and why is that? These conifer trees are not only sturdy but they are also easy to maintain and clean. Most dog owners claimed that their dogs have been in good health ever since they stayed in cedar dog houses. Furthermore, dog houses made from this type of wood are insect, flea and tick-resistant and rot-free.
Common dog houses are literally lying in the ground. You should consider elevating the floor a few inches from the ground to help air circulate freely and prevent the water from coming in during rainy seasons and thunderstorms. This will keep your buddy warm in cold seasons and make him comfortable during summer.
How you position the door is also important. Putting the door at center stage is never a good one. Try putting the door off-center so that the wind will not blow directly inside so it will not be annoying for your dog.

Now, you have the idea on how to build a great dog house. But in conclusion, a great dog house is not entirely elegant and decorative or anything likes that. A dog house's basic principle is to make your dog more comfortable, peaceful, healthy and secured.
