Raising kids of any age can be a challenge, especially if they are dealing with issues like drugs, sex, and alcohol. These are issues that mostly teenagers are faced with, however it is important that you make your children aware of these at an early age. Sometimes parents put off having these types of discussions until it is too late and their kids are already experimenting with them. To really make a difference, one of the best things you can do is talk to your children in an open and honest manor about how you feel and how they feel. One thing that many parents find difficult is knowing when to punish their children for misbehaving and when to sit down and talk with them. It is important that you have a healthy balance of both, because too much punishment can lead to raising a child that just doesn't respond to it anymore, and lack of discipline can results in having a teenager that is unruly and does whatever he or she wants without regard to anyone else.
Another way to keep your kids happy and healthy is to implement healthy foods into their lives. Pack them nutritious lunches when they go to school as well as healthy breakfast meals that will give them the energy to focus and do well. Getting your whole family together to exercise regularly is another great way to have fun and stay fit and healthy at the same time, so be creative and think of different ways to do that together.
